As Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay continues to battle for life in the PGIMER in Chandigarh, his family on Tuesday said he should be sent back to his country along with them.
He was detained by police in May for failing to conform with the rules of NCR, a register of Indian citizens prepared in 1951 which is being updated currently to weed out illegal immigrants from Assam.
Two members of the family of Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay, who is in deep coma at a Chandigarh hospital after being attacked in a Jammu jail, arrived in Amritsar on Tuesday via the Wagah-Attari border.
The attack had a negative impact and disturbed the talks with India which were 'going in the right direction' after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, he said.
The Pakistani investigation team needs more evidence to take the investigation forward and hence, has written to the government to speak to India and apprise them of the situation.
At least 10 people, including some students of a Sunni seminary, were killed and over 80 others injured in sectarian violence that erupted in Pakistani garrison city of Rawalpindi on Friday after a clash during a Muharram procession, following which a curfew was imposed.
